Activities to help Hospitalized Veterans....
Hold bingo parties, picnics, birthday parties, ice cream socials, Christmas boutiques.
Donate personal care items.
Read books/write letters.
Make items requested by facilities for patients, such as lap robes, etc.
Hold underware showers.
Pet program (To be approved by the facility).
Community-Based Volunteer Coordinator --
Volunteer to coordinate the efforts within the Community-Based Outpatient Clinic.
Respite Care Volunteer --
Volunteer to serve in the home as a companion to give caregiver time away from the veteran patient.
Hospice/End of Life Caregiver --
Volunteer to provide service to veterans during end of life.
Legal Assistance --
Volunteer to assist veterans with legal issues/papers other than VA claims.
Virtual Volunteer --
Volunteer to perform data entry, develop newsletters, etc., from home or remote locations.
Web Developer --
Volunteer to develop Web content and platform.
Volunteer Advocate --
Volunteer to serve as a speaker in the schools and community organizations regarding Hospital volunteer opportunities and the benefits of volunteering.
